Welcome to the Era of 3D Televisions!

If these last three years have seen the advent of high definition, currently, another trend with the 3D is taking place! A technology that is engaging more and more in our daily life, and best illustrated with the success of Avatar, Upstairs and Alice in Wonderland.

As with any new emerging technology, bringing 3D to your living room is really a big challenge. That’s why asking yourself whether you should dive in now or wait until several packages are available, so that prices fall and content becomes more abundant.

If you're one of the 50% of consumers who want to get into the world of 3D television, you're probably already looking to buy a brand new 3D TV. Making a decision to purchase a 3D TV can be an easy task if you are prepared with the right knowledge.

To view the 3D content at home you need special equipment. First, a 3D capable TV is the most important thing to get. Keep in mind that televisions sold today - even the 100Hz and 200Hz models – can’t display the 3D. Then, a source such as Blu-ray 3D, 3D glasses and finally Blu-ray 3D will complete your installation.

VIZIO XVT3D474SV 3D TV - Get Ready To Be Blown Away

This stunning 3D television will have you mesmerized into the world of 3D graphics. Keep reading to find out why.

What's Good?

Check out this list of key features, which on their own will have you picking your jaw off the floor:

Full 3D HD

TruLED backlighting

VIZIO Internet Apps

1080p Full HD

5 HDMI connections

5 HDMI CONNECTIONS! That's an absurd amount of connectivity. You'd actually struggle to use all of these at once, although the thought of connecting 4 PS3s to this TV just gave me goosebumps!

VIZIO are one of the best manufacturers to exist in the US market and by the look of this 3D television, it's clear to see why. With its sleek black design, you'll be blown away before you even see the stunning 3D graphics this offers. The TruLED technology will provide you with sharp and blur-free imagery. The LED picture is truly the best out there today.

I advise you to add a pair of VIZIO active shutter 3D glasses in order to get the true 3D experience and of course you will need a 3D source, such as a Sky 3D subscription (very affordable and I'm going to get it myself soon, I just need to convince my wife!).

If you're interested in being able to connect to the internet and using Apps through your TV, then this is a great HDTV for you. This technology will allow you to enjoy social networking and live streaming straight from the internet into your LED TV.

What's Bad?

Bad? How dare I mention that word! There are reports that the TV turns itself off and the sound isn't that good. An easy way around the sound issue is to plug it in to a decent speaker system (which you should have anyway!) and hey presto, problem solved. The turning off issue is likely to be from faulty sets, which are easily replaced through warranty.

Final words

This 3D television is already extremely popular and you should really think about buying this VIZIO HDTV. It looks great, both in design and picture and comes highly recommended from me.

3D - DLP - Plasma - LCD - LED - You Have Choices!

There is now a wide range of choices available in the market for 3D TVs. A 3D TV is available from as little as $900  and go all the way up to $7000.  Mitsubishi, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and LG have already received several first rate models in the 3D TV market.

What’s the best technology that will suit your needs 3D plasma, DLP, LCD or LED TV?

To get a clear idea, here are some of the specifications and prices of 3D TVs each manufacturer had introduced in the market to help you make your decision on which 3D TV to buy.

LG Gets Ready

LG has released its Infinia LX9500 3D Ready TV. Available in sizes 47inch or 55inch screen, these LED based LCD TVs enjoy 3D images from a refresh rate of 480 Hz, which is important when it comes to watching sports in 3D.

Prices for the series LX9500 Infinia are between 2700 $ and 3600 $ where LG have produced active 3D glasses to go with them.
The fast refresh rate creates super smooth free motion and allows for frame sequential sequencing necessary to create the 3D effect.
Not all models include the requisite glasses.

Sony Steps Up

With Sony, you can check the XBR-HX900 and LX900 LED based 3D Bravia HDTVs. Sony 3D TVs are available in 40, 46, 50 and 60 inch screen sizes. Sony offers free 3D games with their 3D television, and they also come with a pair of shutter glasses that are included in the price.

It’s packed with cutting edge 3D image technology, including LED boost to bring you the brightest 3D pictures possible.

Just plug in the specially designed 3D sync transmitter, put on a pair of their Active Shutter glasses and get ready to lose yourself in high definition 3D.

With Sony's recent PS3 upgrades, I'm betting we will see packages including a Blu-Ray player soon as well.

Panasonic Prepares to Compete

Panasonic have created the 3D Ready Viera Plasma VT25 VT20 series that come in 50, 54, 58 and 65 inch screen sizes. The prices start at $2600. They promise deeper blacks with Black Panel technology. Every TV comes with a pair of 3D glasses. The 600Hz allows almost instantaneous response time which minimizes the motion blur and ghosting.  An advantage that VT20 and VT25 Panasonic 3D TVs have more than a few others is that it can read all 3D content, whether it is sequential or side by side. Panasonic also took the wise decision to produce their own 3D Blu-Ray Player and active 3D glasses.

Currently, Panasonic introduced the latest 50-inch Full HD 3D Plasma, the TC-P50VT25 which costs nearly $2600. The same size, same feature TC-P50G25 for $1500 without 3D. You’ll get a set of active shutter glasses in the box.

Samsung Soars

Samsung Full HD 3D televisions are simply wonderful. Sleek, slim and beautiful, they are packed with features like Internet TV, Skype connectivity BDWise, special Game Mode and of course the 3D capability. Available in plasma, LED or LCD Samsung 3D TV formats start at a very affordable price of $ 1600.

Samsung is the first manufacturer to release 3D LCD TV - the C750 with a 46 inch screen. Screen sizes are available in 46 and 55 inches for the 3D LED and 40, 50, 58 or 63 inch for plasmas.
Samsung, also, produce their own 3D glasses and 3D Blu-ray, which means no hunting on the search for compatible products - they created a complete 3D package.

Mitsubishi Models

Mitsubishi's 3D Full HD DLP TVs are by far the best priced 3D TV option, with just under 1000 $. DLP enables these low prices because it's much cheaper to make it than plasma or LED TVs. The technology is cheaper to produce, but that does not mean that the image quality is cheap too. DLP technology offers sharp and dynamic images, with deep blacks and no ghosting, which is why Mitsubishi has stayed with this technology. All Mitsubishi 3D Ready HDTVs benefit from the 6-color processor, which creates a color reproduction that is absolutely alive.

Mitsubishi 3D TVs are available from 60 to 82 inches. If you're feeling really rich there is the Mitsubishi LaserVue - 65 inches that is powered 3D Ready.

Mitsubishi also provide their own starter kit for use with 3D models of their 3D TVs. It includes two pairs of 3D glasses and an adapter which is capable of handling all types of 3D formats.

3D Periphial Compatibility

Since compatible 3D HDTV is in its infancy, it is difficult to say exactly what the landscape 3D home theater looks like, say, a couple of years.

The current set of 3D HDTVs from Panasonic, Samsung and Sony all require active shutter glasses for 3D visualization, and not all manufacturers use the same glasses. There is no guarantee your Sony glasses will work with a Panasonic 3D TV.

This does not mean that intentions for standardization haven’t been made. The Blu-ray Disc Association has set a standard for Blu-ray in 3D, and the consortium has published standards HDMI cable.

Is This For You?

3D is still being considered a possible fad and this may well be the case, but consider that CD's were a fad that has lasted many many years so far, as have the fads of DVD's, cell phones, and computers.

Buying a 3D Ready HDTV, today, is costly and potentially risky, but If you are a sports fan or a hardcore gamer, the experience of exploring 3D deserves it. Just be prepared to pay for it.

Home theatres have truly advanced and they have now reached the point where you can watch 3D television in your own home. People can now enjoy 3D movies whenever they want when they own a 3D TV. It is the best of the best when it comes to home entertainment. More and more people are seeing the advantages of having a 3D entertainment system for their family and manufacturers are responding by investing in better technology.

One of the advantages of a 3D TV is that you can watch more than just movies in 3D. Everyone loves the 3D movies that they have been able to watch in theatres but imagine watching video games, sporting events, and other television show in 3D. Having a 3D TV can enhance the home theatre experience in many ways and soon it might be the norm - maybe sooner than you think.

There has been talk about a 3D sports channel coming out and that will be something that sports fans will really enjoy. Imagine being able to watch your favourite team win in 3D - it will be like actually being at the game, except that you'll be comfortable on your own couch and you'll have all of your favourite game food at the ready without ever having to pay for the insane prices at the stadiums. Gamers have had the pleasure of finding improved graphics in their video games over the years and the quality has vastly improved but can you imagine playing your games in 3D? You might have tried a 3D game at a game store and thought it would be cool to have something like that in your own home - well, now you can!

Some people worry that if they buy a 3D TV they will not be able to watch regular 2D television shows and movies anymore. 3D televisions make excellent 2D televisions as well though. Manufacturers make sure that there is extra processing to account for black level, contrast, and motion response so that the 3D TV's can give viewers a good experience whether they are watching a 3D movie or a regular 2D movie. You can make any adjustments necessary so that a 3D television can be enjoyed for any kind of home entertainment. Your viewing experience will be excellent even if you only want to watch regular TV shows and play regular video games. You can save the 3D entertainment for special occasions and watch regular 2D shows and movies the rest of the time and not have to worry about quality.

Of course, there are a few things you should consider if you are thinking about buying a 3D TV. One of the things you should remember is that in order to see the picture in 3D, you need to have 3 glasses. Some can be less comfortable than others. They can also be expensive if you want good quality glasses. And don't forget that if you have guest over you will need to have a few extra pairs besides the ones you buy for your family. Speaking of costs, you should remember that 3D televisions are quite expensive themselves. Adding to the cost is the 3D Blu-ray disc player that you will need and you might need a 3D-enabled home theatre receiver as well.

Finally, you should remember that the 3D experience is relatively new and the amount of content available might be minimal for now. While there might be many options for movies, videos games, and other entertainment in the future, the amount available now is limited.

Overall, if you really enjoy the best in technology, a 3D TV could be a great investment for you and your family. You will be ahead of everyone else and understand the technology more as it advances and other people are struggling with trying to figure it all out. 3D entertainment is the future and you could be part of it now.
